Whipped feta dip is so easy to make and versatile (not to mention TASTY) that you’ll want to keep it around to spread onto anything. It makes a great snack obviously, but doesn’t end there. Spread onto salads, steaks, chicken, and lamb. It can even be used as a sandwich spread.
What are some uses for whipped feta dip?
Other than just scooping with your favorite crackers, chips, pita bread, or baguette, here are some other ideas. Remember this will keep about a week covered in the fridge so get creative!
- Serve a scoop with salads for a Mediterranean flavor. It goes great with grain bowl style salads, or in chilled bean salads.
- Serve with sliced veggies as a canape. Celery, cucumber wheels, carrots, and radish all work well.
- Bake slices of pita until crispy and use for scooping this dip.
- Serve with warm bread as a table condiment.
- Smear over roasted meats. Roasted chicken breast, grilled steak, and lamb skewers are all favorites.
- Top with olives, pepperoncini, pickled chiles or onions. Raw red onions are also fantastic.
- The recipe calls for za’atar which is dried. But feel free to add some fresh herbs such as chopped parsley or basil, minced thyme or oregano, or even mint. You can also substitute this with a Mediterranean herb blend.
- Serve inside a vegetarian sandwich with hummus and sprouts for a light lunch.
- Use as a topping for pizzas!
Whipped Feta Dip
Equipment
Ingredients
- 11 ounces Feta cheese firm block or crumbles
- .5 cups Heavy cream
- 8 ounces Cream cheese
- .25 each Lemon
For Garlic Herb Oil
- 2 tbsp Olive oil
- 2 each Garlic
- 1 tsp Za'atar spice blend, or mediterranean spice blend
- .5 tsp Sea salt
Instructions
- Prep the ingredients
- Make the herb oil by peeling the garlic clove and roasting with the olive oil over very low heat for several minutes. Remove and chop the garlic, then while still warm add the za'atar and salt. Reserve at room temperature.
- In a stand mixer, add the cream and cream cheese.
- Mix on low to form a paste, then add the feta in crumbles. Whip the mixture for about 3-5 minutes on high to aireate. Squeeze the lemon into the mix, then whip about one minute more to incorporate. Taste for salt. The dip will often need no salt due to the salt levels of the feta.
- Using a rubber spatula, scrape the sides of the mixing bowl and spoon onto a plate or bowl. Drizzle with the herb oil. Serve with vegetables or crackers, or bread of choice. Bon appetit!
